If you are considering shopping around for a new TFT monitor, think carefully about which one you are going to buy. You are probably going to have it for some time, so you need to make sure you are buying the best one you can for your budget. And the best one is probably going to be the biggest one you can accommodate.
But why buy a bigger screen? Are there any particular reasons for this?
There is no doubt that bigger means better in this situation. For starters if you use your computer to play games on you’ll appreciate having that extra bit of screen size to play with. The same applies to watching television programmes or films as well. For example if you buy a widescreen monitor you will love how widescreen programmes look on it. You won’t lose any of the picture and you will also appreciate how the picture looks when you have that much more screen to watch it on.
Next there is the issue of making the most of how your screen looks. For example there is a Google sidebar you can have on your computer. You can have this available to view permanently along one side of the screen if you wish. But this can be problematic if you don’t happen to have a wide screen to view it on. If you do have a decent sized screen you can view your toolbar quite easily at the side and still have a nice big screen for your documents and the internet browser to open up in.
As you can see it is worth considering how you want to proceed in this respect. For example you need to think about how far you can stretch your budget. Obviously the more cash you have available to make the most of, the better off you will be. There is no point scrimping to purchase a small but cheap monitor that isn’t going to be good value and isn’t going to give you a big screen to watch.
At the end of the day you are going to be looking at this screen for a long time to come – particularly if you work from home or spend several hours a day on your computer. So buy the best and the biggest one you can – you won’t regret doing it, no matter how much you spend.
