Do You Have A Computer Screensaver Set Up?

Wednesday May 12, 2010

If you are in the process of shopping for and buying a brand new TFT computer monitor, you will want to keep it in tip top condition when you do finally choose the one you want. Whether it is a small and cheap one or a new widescreen and much larger model, you will need to take good care of it.

One thing you may want to do is to make sure you have a screensaver in place on your computer once you get your new TFT monitor installed. Screen burn is always a possibility when you have a computer, although it should be said that with a TFT monitor the chances of being affected by this are quite small. However that isn’t to say they are completely impossible, so you have to consider the prospect of being able to counter this threat, however small it might be.

The best way to do this is to get a screensaver. Screen burn occurs when the same image is constantly in place on your computer screen. So for example, if you are always creating documents and writing constantly in Word, you will be at risk of getting screen burn if you leave your screen switched on and in that mode. If this happens for a long period of time you are at risk of getting the image burned into your screen. This cannot really be reversed and if it gets really bad you could end up having to buy another screen altogether.

But a simple way to avoid it is to install a screensaver. This can really be anything you want; in fact whatever your computer happens to be, it will provide you with a number of screensavers that are already installed. All you have to do is decide how long you want to wait until the screensaver kicks in. For instance you might set it to ten minutes. This means if your computer is not touched, and you don’t use the mouse or the keyboard for ten minutes, the screensaver will come on to change the image on the screen and keep it moving.

Many people actually go for another type of screensaver to personalise their computer however. So why not unpack your brand new TFT monitor and christen it by looking for a brand new screensaver to use as well? It would be a great way to get it up and running, wouldn’t it?
